Spotify Rolls Out Audiobooks to More Than 180 Markets
Spotify is expanding audiobooks to over 180 markets, with 350,000 titles in 120 languages and new subscription access.
The rollout began on Oct. 7 and will continue through the end of 2026. Spotify described the expansion in a blog post. Newly supported markets will have access to the 350,000-plus titles, with additional catalogs available in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish and other languages.
Access will vary by market. Eligible Premium subscribers in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, Norway, Peru, Italy, Spain and Portugal will receive 12 hours of audiobook listening each month as part of their existing subscription. Spotify is also expanding Audiobooks+, an add-on that gives subscribers additional listening hours each month. The add-on will be the primary way to access audiobooks in markets across Africa and Asia, as well as Argentina. Users can also purchase individual audiobooks outright, with pricing and availability varying by market.
Spotify also announced an update to Page Match, its feature for switching between physical or digital books and their audiobook versions. Users can now scan a book's ISBN barcode and then enter a page number to find the corresponding point in the audiobook. The feature now works in more than 30 languages, according to the company.
Audiobooks+ will expand to Student plans in Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Finland beginning in November. Spotify said the add-on has surpassed 1 million subscribers since launching just over a year ago and now generates more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue.
The company said monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the past year, while total listening hours increased by more than 30%.
