Square Adds Apple Business Integration to Keep Apple Maps Listings Current
Square's new Apple Business integration lets sellers sync hours, addresses and phone numbers to Apple Maps and add ordering and booking links from the Square Dashboard.
The integration, announced Sept. 24, addresses a familiar complaint among Apple Maps users: listings carrying outdated hours or errors in an address or phone number. In its announcement, Square said sellers can now maintain their Apple presence alongside the rest of their business in Square rather than managing multiple channels separately, and that the setup is intended to ensure Apple users see up-to-date and accurate information across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet and other Apple apps.
Square said the integration gives business owners several capabilities. Sellers can manage their brand and add a logo across connected locations directly from the Square Dashboard, extending their brand presence to Apple Maps place cards. Key details for each connected location, including hours, address and phone number, sync automatically so the information stays current across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet and other Apple apps and services without manual updates. Sellers can also turn listings into points of action with links such as Menu, Order, Pickup, Delivery, Book or Schedule Appointment, allowing customers to take action directly from an Apple Maps place card.
9to5Mac described the partnership as a clear win for businesses, given how many of them already rely on Square, and said it should also produce a better Apple Maps experience for users over time. The report also asked Square users whether they plan to activate the Apple Business integration.
Square directed business owners to squareup.com/partnerships/applebusiness for more information on the integration.
