Strava Adds Coach-Designed Strength Workouts With Live Set and Rep Tracking

Strava is rolling out coach-designed strength workouts with guided animations, form tips and live set and rep tracking for subscribers, plus new guided running workouts and future import tools.

The workouts are developed by experienced strength coaches and guide users through each exercise with animations, form tips, and information on the targeted muscle groups. Users can track their sets and reps as they go, with results automatically saved to their activity once the session ends. The muscle maps introduced earlier this year will update to reflect the completed exercises.

The update builds on an overhaul Strava announced a few months ago, which introduced a dedicated workout log for tracking sets, reps, and weights, automatic muscle maps, and more.

Strava said the new experience "walks athletes through workouts developed by experienced strength coaches with guided animations, and lets them track sets and reps live as they go." Clicking into each exercise also provides guidance on correct form, tips, and the exact muscles targeted. When a workout ends, every exercise, set, and rep is saved directly to the athlete's activity, and their muscle map updates to show where the effort went.

The company said the update also introduces new guided running workouts, with additional workout series planned before the end of the year. Strava also said it is working on a feature that will let users import strength workouts by uploading screenshots of training plans or notes containing sets and reps, as well as a build-your-own workout feature.
