Street Fighter Movie Popcorn Bucket Is a Wearable Guile Flattop
Engadget reports that moviegoers seeing Street Fighter at an AMC theater may be able to get a popcorn bucket shaped like Guile's flattop hair and wear it on their heads. The film opens October 16.
WWE star Cody Rhodes, who plays Guile in the latest adaptation, demonstrated the skull cap in a social media post, Engadget reported. The bucket is the latest in a run of elaborate, collectible popcorn buckets that theater chains have used in recent years. Engadget said the strategy was meant to entice people back to the big screen or prompt more avid moviegoers to spend extra cash. The report noted that while it has been a good year at the box office for film studios and theaters, revenue remained low for a while after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, even after lockdown measures lifted, as more people simply waited for films to hit streaming services.
Engadget cited a Yoshi popcorn bucket for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as one recent example and described the Street Fighter bucket as possibly the best and silliest one yet. The report said the bucket, like the most recent trailer, is fun and goofy, exactly like a Street Fighter film should be. Engadget also noted that Guile's original design and hairstyle from the games is based on characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Street Fighter will hit theaters on October 16.
