The 1999 classic Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 has been fully decompiled, paving the way for unofficial native ports to modern platforms like Android and Windows.

Unlike emulated versions, ports derived from decompiled source code can offer better performance, support for mods, and tighter integration with the host system. The decompilation effort was shared on Decomp.dev, a site that tracks such projects. As of now, no actual ports have been publicly released, but the completion of the code recreation is expected to lead to ports appearing soon.

This development is part of a broader trend in which fans decompile classic Nintendo games to make them accessible on modern devices, given Nintendo's limited official re-release strategy for its back catalog. The newly decompiled Super Smash Bros. joins other fan-driven porting projects that aim to preserve and extend the life of older titles.
