Survivor Season 51 Premieres With New 'Open Era' and All-New Cast

Survivor Season 51 premieres Sept. 23 on CBS with 21 new castaways and an “open era” format, plus streaming options on Paramount+, Global TV and Stan.

For the first time in a long time, the season will begin with just two starting tribes. Players will be marooned and tasked with setting up camp before the real gameplay begins, TechRadar reported. All 21 players are new to the show, a departure from the previous season’s return of franchise legends. The group includes a professional wrestler, a criminal-defense attorney, a voice actress, a chef and a farmer, among others, and will compete through physical endurance and social strategy to survive Tribal Councils and win the title of Sole Survivor.

In the United States, new episodes will follow in the same Wednesday 8 p.m. ET/PT slot on CBS. Viewers who have the channel on cable can tune in on linear TV or watch on demand through the CBS website. Cord-cutters can stream the broadcast live with Paramount+ Premium at $13.99 per month or with Fubo at $79.99 per month, according to TechRadar. Subscribers to Paramount+ Essential, at $8.99 per month, can catch episodes the following day, and the $1 30-day trial to Walmart+ comes with the Essential tier as a member bonus. Fubo, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV also feature CBS and offer free trial periods, the report said.

In Canada, Survivor will air on Global TV alongside its U.S. broadcast. Episodes will also be available to stream free on the Global TV website and app for one week, beginning the day after they air. For cord-cutters, Stack TV carries Global TV and a number of other channels and is available through Prime Video, Fubo and more. It is free to Prime Video subscribers for the first seven days and then costs CA$14.99 per month.

In Australia, Survivor streams exclusively on Stan. Season 51 will arrive on Thursday, September 24, with episodes released weekly. Stan prices start at AU$9.99 per month and go up to AU$23.99 for the Premium tier.

The U.S. iteration of Survivor does not air in the UK, but British viewers have their own one-season homegrown equivalent available to stream free on BBC iPlayer, TechRadar reported. U.S. viewers in the UK can use a VPN to watch their usual streaming services from abroad.

TechRadar recommended NordVPN for viewers who want to watch Survivor Season 51 from anywhere, saying it can make a device appear to be back in the user’s home country and unlock usual services. The report cited a 75% discount, three extra months free and the ability to unlock Paramount Plus.
