T-Mobile May Add New Perks Oct. 1 as YouTube Music Expands Podcast Discovery

The Mobile Report said on Sept. 22, based on information from a source within T-Mobile, that it expected something — likely the new perks — to launch on Sept. 23. In a later update, it said the launch has been delayed, “likely” until the beginning of next month. Android Authority reported that the new perks may arrive Thursday, Oct. 1.

None of the new T-Mobile perks are official. Potential perks include subscriptions related to Apple Music, YouTube, SiriusXM, Paramount Plus, ESPN Plus, Xbox Game Pass, Google AI, and DashPass. The exact products and tiers have not been disclosed. Apple Music and DashPass are straightforward, but other services offer multiple products and tiers. YouTube, for example, could mean YouTube Music, YouTube Premium, or both. T-Mobile subscribers should assume the perks would apply to the lowest tier of each service, such as Google AI Plus or Xbox Game Pass Essential, according to the report.

If the latest reporting is accurate, T-Mobile subscribers may not have long to wait. The perks could be made available in just a few days, on Oct. 1.

YouTube Music’s updates are also rolling out to the app. Android Authority reported that Ask Music is getting new features. It can now be used to customize a listener’s queue or to dive deeper into artist lore. The app is also introducing “your podcast lineup,” an AI-audio guide that delivers a brief spoken preview of recommended shows. The feature also gives reasons why a listener might like the recommended podcasts.

The podcast lineup feature will be available to users of the music streaming app and to YouTube Premium subscribers, according to Android Authority. The update is aimed at listeners who want to find new music, podcasts, or artists rather than stick with old favorites.
