TechRadar Compares Amazon's 16 Best-Selling Tablets With Its Own Rankings

TechRadar examined Amazon's 16 best-selling tablets in the US as of Sept. 22, led by the iPad (A16) 11-inch, Kindle Paperwhite and Fire HD 10.

Amazon's No. 1 best-selling tablet was the iPad (A16) 11-inch, according to TechRadar. TechRadar said the model is not its favorite tablet, but it still scored very highly in its review. The No. 2 best-seller was the Kindle Paperwhite. TechRadar noted that it places e-readers in a separate best e-reader ranking rather than in its tablet list, and that two Kobo models rank above the Kindle Paperwhite in that separate ranking. The No. 3 best-seller was the Fire HD 10 (2023). TechRadar awarded that tablet three stars and described it as "only smoldering." It said the device is relatively cheap, which helps explain why it is popular on Amazon.

TechRadar said the comparison reveals differences in how the two lists are organized. Its tablet coverage tends to focus on tablets for adults, while Amazon's ranking includes a number of kid-focused models. Amazon also bundles e-readers with tablets, whereas TechRadar keeps a separate best e-reader ranking. TechRadar said it was not surprised that Amazon's own models sell especially well on the platform, given that they tend to get the best discounts. It cited the Kindle Paperwhite's No. 2 position as an example, even though in TechRadar's own e-reader ranking the Kindle Paperwhite sits below two Kobo models.
