TechRadar Flags $1,399 MSI Vector 16 With RTX 5070 Ti, Citing Walmart and Best Buy
TechRadar reported an MSI Vector 16 with an RTX 5070 Ti at $1,399, down from $1,749, but its references to Walmart and Best Buy conflict.
The listed configuration includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and the RTX 5070 Ti. TechRadar said 16GB of memory is somewhat expected at this price and called the 512GB storage drive the most galling omission. It said it would be willing to sacrifice some storage space to get the more powerful graphics card at this price, describing the trade-off as giving up the ability to keep many games installed at once in exchange for better in-game performance.
TechRadar said the 16GB of RAM will likely bottleneck performance in some games, but it argued that a machine with an RTX 5070 Ti and 16GB of RAM should still outpace one with an RTX 5060 and 32GB of RAM. It noted that the RTX 5070 Ti has 12GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5060 has 8GB. The publication added that even with 16GB of RAM, it would pick this MSI Vector 16 over similarly priced RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 machines on the market currently.
The report said it had been a while since it had seen a machine with such a graphics card for so cheap. It also placed the MSI Vector 16 within a broader gaming-laptop deal market that it described as having been poor in recent months.
