TechRadar picks five mini PCs under $600 for back-to-school work and study

TechRadar selected five mini PCs under $600, including the Geekom A6 and Beelink EQi, for back-to-school work and study, highlighting performance and value.

The Geekom A6, a Ryzen 7 6800H-based mini PC with Radeon 680M graphics, USB4, and support for four 4K displays, was described by TechRadar expert Alastair as packing "an impressive amount of power, which is more than enough to handle MS Office and light use of Adobe Creative Suite Apps." Its memory and storage are upgradable. The Minisforum UM760 Slim features a newer Ryzen 5 7640HS and Radeon 760M graphics, making it suitable for productivity, creative work, and light gaming.

The Geekom A5 offers 16GB of upgradable RAM, a 1TB SSD, six USB ports, and an SD card reader; reviewer Mark said it "delivers a thoughtful design that ticks most of the general usage boxes." The Beelink EQi, with Intel's Wildcat Lake 304 processor, Thunderbolt 4, and triple 4K display support, was praised by Alastair as "highly tuned to an office environment." He noted that "when opening Microsoft Office, Lightroom, and browsing the internet, the speed was surprisingly sharp."

The GMKtec M5 Ultra, with an eight-core Ryzen 7 7730U, dual 2.5GbE ports, and triple-display support, was said by Mark to be useful for productivity, networking, and home-office setups, thanks to its "decent amount of memory, dual M.2 slots and dual 2.5GbE LAN ports." TechRadar advises that these mini PCs are ideal for users who want an affordable desktop computer that stays on a desk, but they are not suitable for those who need to carry a computer between locations, since a monitor, keyboard, and mouse are still required.
