TechRadar picks nine 4K Blu-ray discs for Amazon Prime Day sale

TechRadar names nine 4K Blu-ray discs worth buying in Amazon Prime Day deals, including Speed Racer and The Wild Robot, and highlights UK TV discounts from LG, Sony and Samsung.

According to TechRadar, the nine picks are Speed Racer, The Sound of Music, Edward Scissorhands, Tron: Legacy, Superman (2025), F1: The Movie, The Wild Robot, Tombstone and Minority Report.

TechRadar described Speed Racer as a disc for bold colors, saying its cartoonish palette produces vibrant tones that explode on the right display, such as one of the best OLED TVs. It said The Sound of Music also has vivid colors that are lifelike and natural, and that the 4K release breathes new life into the now-60-year-old movie.

Edward Scissorhands was singled out for dynamic colors shown in the gaudy exterior of neighborhood houses and the 1950s-esque costumes of locals. Tron: Legacy was called another visual feast, with slick graphics and neon-like colors highlighting the quality of the 4K disc, along with a Daft Punk soundtrack presented in Dolby Atmos.

For sound systems, TechRadar said Superman (2025) uses Dolby Atmos object-based sound and height channels during Superman's flight sequences, which sound superb. F1: The Movie generates plenty of low-end to test a subwoofer's limits, along with sound movement and directionality during race scenes.

The Wild Robot was praised for rendering nature sounds with true-to-life clarity, including snapping twigs, wind, rain and calling animals. TechRadar said its Dolby Atmos soundtrack is superb and the film looks gorgeous with its hand-drawn and painted style of animation.

Tombstone and Minority Report use DTS-HD 5.1 MA soundtracks, which TechRadar said prove Dolby Atmos is not necessary for high-quality sound. Tombstone's gunfights will show off surround speaker mapping, while Minority Report will make viewers think they have height channels, according to the guide.

TechRadar directed readers to Amazon's 4K Blu-ray deals for the full range of discs on offer. It also highlighted television deals for Prime Day in the UK. The LG B6E was described as an affordable way into OLED without sacrificing key features or performance, with crisp, colorful and contrast-rich picture quality and four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K 120Hz, full VRR, Dolby Vision and ALLM. The 65-inch model was said to be down to a record-low £999 at Amazon for Prime Day.

The LG C5, one of 2025's best TVs, was said to offer awesome picture quality and every feature needed, especially for gaming. TechRadar said stock continues to thin out; the 48-inch model was available at Crampton & Moore for £799, while a separate price line listed it as was £999 now £819 at PRC Direct. It advised checking PRC Direct if the price went back up again.

The Bravia 7 II was said to outperform its mid-range label with strong contrast, OLED-level blacks, stunning colors and solid built-in sound, and to be great for gaming with a near-full set of features. The 55-inch model was available for £1,649 at Sevenoaks. The Samsung S99H was described as another top-notch flagship OLED with deep black tones, dynamic colors, crisp textures and excellent gaming performance; the 55-inch model was £1,849 at Richer Sounds.

TechRadar also listed other UK Prime Day offers, including a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial, up to 67% off Fire, Ring and Blink devices, an extra 15% off for Prime members on Amazon Haul, up to 40% off Ninja and De'Longhi appliances, up to 60% off Philips and Oral-B beauty products, cleaning and groceries from £2, up to 50% off fashion, a record-low Nintendo Switch 2 gaming deal, up to 50% off Anker and Sony headphones, up to £800 off Microsoft and Asus laptops, up to 50% off Fire tablets, TVs from £129.99, up to 50% off Shark and Dyson vacuums, and Samsung and Oura wearables from £31.
