TechRadar Posts Hints and Answers for NYT Connections, Strands and Quordle

TechRadar published hints and answers for the Oct. 23, 2026 editions of NYT Connections, NYT Strands and Quordle, listing the groups, theme words and daily solutions for each puzzle.

For Connections, TechRadar reported four groups. The yellow group, FORTHRIGHT, contained DIRECT, FRANK, OPEN and VOCAL. The green group, THINGS YOU INSTALL ON A COMPUTER, contained DRIVER, EXTENSION, PLUGIN and UPDATE. The blue group, QUANTITIES IN A FORMULA FOR POWER, contained DISTANCE, FORCE, POWER and TIME. The purple group, ___ TAP, contained DOUBLE, LOVE, PHONE and SPINAL. TechRadar rated the puzzle Easy and reported a Perfect score, saying the writer had not heard 'love tap' but gambled that LOVE belonged with SPINAL, PHONE and DOUBLE.

For Strands, the theme was 'None of your beeswax!' TechRadar's clue words were BEAVER, SPRING, NOSE, PRIDE, SPONGY, SITE and VEST; the Spangram had eight letters and touched the left side in the first row and the right side in the sixth row. The answers were NOSY, EAVESDROPPING, INQUISITIVE, SNOOPY and PRYING, with BUSYBODY as the Spangram. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and reported a Perfect score, citing the 13-letter EAVESDROPPING and INQUISITIVE as difficult connections and noting that the writer spotted the Spangram first.

For Quordle, TechRadar said the puzzle had four different standard vowels, no repeated letters, no Q, Z, X or J, and no two answers starting with the same letter. The starting letters were B, H, F and L. The answers were BLIMP, HOIST, FRIED and LURID. The Daily Sequence answers were TRADE, OFFAL, QUAIL and LOAMY. TechRadar said the game felt far too easy and gave the writer an odd sensation of having played it before, probably because the O-I-S-T letter combination had appeared two days earlier and BLIMP tends to appear in the Daily Sequence every other month.

TechRadar described Connections as one of several popular word games from the New York Times. It asks players to find four groups of four items with something in common, with green rated easy, yellow a little harder, blue often tough and purple usually very difficult; players can make up to four mistakes. Strands is the New York Times' word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections, and Quordle was one of the original Wordle alternatives and remains active more than 1,500 games later. TechRadar said Connections and Strands are playable free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
