TechRadar Posts Oct. 18 Solutions for Quordle, Strands and Connections

TechRadar has posted answers for Quordle #1728, NYT Strands #959 and NYT Connections #1225 for Oct. 18.

For Quordle #1728, TechRadar's hints said the puzzle contains four different standard vowels, three answers with repeated letters and no Q, Z, X or J. Two answers begin with the same letter, and the starting letters are F, F, W and R. The four answers are FLINT, FUROR, WEDGE and RODEO. The same report listed the Daily Sequence answers as REACT, PSALM, AMPLE and FAULT. TechRadar's solver wrote that an incorrect guess of rower instead of RODEO turned out to help, because it supplied the W needed for WEDGE.

The Strands article said game #959 had the theme Fast fashion, with HEAT, TEACH, VINE, SINGE, WEAK and NINE offered as clue words to unlock the in-game hint system. It said the spangram has 11 letters and touches the top edge at the first column and the bottom edge at the fourth column. The answers were WATCH, SNEAKERS, HEADPHONES, VEST and SUNGLASSES, and the spangram was RUNNINGGEAR. TechRadar rated the puzzle Easy; its solver reported a perfect score.

Connections #1225 grouped BUREAU, CHEST, TRUNK and WARDROBE as places to store clothes; BUTTER, DEODORANT, DYNAMITE and INCENSE as things that come in sticks; ANGEL, COCO, OBSESSION and OPIUM as famous perfumes; and FOGERTY, HAZEL, MISTER and VAPORETTO as words starting with things that cloud the air. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and its solver reported one mistake.

Quordle, one of the early Wordle alternatives, asks players to solve four words at once and has passed 1,500 games. Strands is part of the New York Times games lineup; Connections challenges players to sort 16 words into four categories, with a four-mistake limit. TechRadar publishes daily hint-and-answer pages for all three, offering optional clues before revealing the solutions.
