TechRadar Posts Oct. 24 Answers for Quordle, NYT Strands and Connections

TechRadar posted Oct. 24 answers for Quordle, NYT Strands and Connections, including TOXIN, SMART, MOUSE and STYLE in Quordle.

In Quordle game #1734, TechRadar said the puzzle contained five different standard vowels, no repeated letters and one of Q, Z, X or J. Two answers began with the same letter; the starting letters were T, S, M and S. The four answers were TOXIN, SMART, MOUSE and STYLE. TechRadar said it was the first five-vowel game “for a while” and also delivered the rare letter X. Its writer said he hesitated to guess TOXIN until completing the other columns because rare letters are hard to handle with care. The Daily Sequence for the same game number had SUING, THERE, TENET and BRIEF. TechRadar described Quordle as one of the original Wordle alternatives, still running after more than 1,500 games.

For NYT Strands game #965, the theme was “Re-fresh-ing.” TechRadar listed DRAKE, READY, SUNDRY, CASK, DETER and GREED as clue words that unlock the in-game hints system. The spangram had 10 letters and touched the left and right sides of the board on the fourth row. The answers were BASKET, WASHER, SINK, RACK, DETERGENT and IRON; the spangram was LAUNDRYDAY. TechRadar rated the puzzle Easy and said its writer achieved a perfect score without hints, though the writer described the solving process as inelegant, initially splitting DETERGENT, stopping at “laundry” before LAUNDRYDAY and trying “cark” before RACK.

In NYT Connections game #1231, TechRadar reported four groups. KINDS OF STRIPS were BACON, COMIC, FILM and MÖBIUS. THINGS ON STICKS were HOBBY HORSE, PINWHEEL, POPSICLE and SPARKLER. ONLINE AD FORMATS were BANNER, INTERSTITIAL, OVERLAY and POP-UP. The _____ BAR group was CANDY, SALAD, SPACE and SPORTS. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and reported one mistake. The writer said the error came from guessing PINWHEEL before deciding that INTERSTITIAL sounded like an online-ad term, and described online ad formats as flickering elements that block the screen and require users to find an X to close them.

The TechRadar posts also included links to its daily NYT Connections, NYT Strands, Quordle and Wordle pages. Each article placed a spoiler warning before the answers and noted that a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone; readers looking for Friday's puzzles were directed to the previous day's guides.
