TechRadar Publishes Sept. 14 Hints and Answers for Quordle, Strands and Connections

For Quordle #1694, TechRadar said the puzzle contains four different standard vowels and one repeated letter. One of Q, Z, X or J appears, and none of the four answers starts with the same letter. The starting letters are Z, L, R and T. The answers are ZEBRA, LEGAL, RATIO and TROLL. TechRadar described ZEBRA as a very rare outing for the letter Z. The guide also reported that the writer had made a mistake on LEGAL by placing A in a position that had already been ruled out, which the writer attributed to playing Quordle with a heavy cold. The Daily Sequence answers for the same day were WRECK, COMIC, MAUVE and OLIVE.

For NYT Strands #925, the theme was OH MY GOSH!!. TechRadar listed six clue words: DUCK, LICE, SHUCK, TART, DAZE and FRESH. The spangram had 13 letters and touched the top row, first column, at one end and the bottom row, sixth column, at the other. The answers were EXCLAIM, START, GASP, RECOIL, FREEZE and SHUDDER. The spangram was THATSSHOCKING. TechRadar rated the puzzle Easy and reported a Perfect score. The guide said the phrase OH MY GOSH!! had regained popularity after decades in children's adventure stories, and it noted that gosh dates to the 18th century and has no meaning beyond being an altered version of god. The writer also said it was his first spangram-first result in months.

For NYT Connections #1191, the 16 words were STRAW, CRAB, COOT, LEMON, BLUE, CANARY, TEAL, RAT, LOON, BAG, WHEAT, CUTLERY, SNITCH, GOOSE, STIRRER and STOOLIE. The groups were WATERBIRDS: COOT, GOOSE, LOON and TEAL; INFORMANT: CANARY, RAT, SNITCH and STOOLIE; COMMON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC ITEMS: BAG, CUTLERY, STIRRER and STRAW; and ____GRASS: BLUE, CRAB, LEMON and WHEAT. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and reported three mistakes. The guide said the first group was the main source of frustration, with the writer initially trying to include CANARY among the birds before remembering that TEAL is a type of duck. The writer completed the remaining groups in difficulty order and later judged the purple group to be the easiest.
