TechRadar Publishes Sept. 17 Hints and Answers for Quordle, Connections and Strands

In Quordle #1697, the four answers were CRIER, CHIRP, NEIGH and FREER. TechRadar's hints noted that the puzzle contained two different standard vowels, two answers with repeated letters, and none of the letters Q, Z, X or J. Two answers began with the same letter, and the starting letters were C, C, N and F. The guide described the game as very taxing despite its heavy use of the letter R and its lack of vowels, and said NEIGH was the hardest to reach.

The Quordle Daily Sequence for game #1697 produced SOBER, STONY, IDYLL and QUARK. TechRadar also listed the previous 20 Quordle solutions, including game #1696 on Wednesday, September 16: SPEAR, PRICE, BLUNT and FISHY.

For NYT Connections #1194, players had to sort 16 words into four categories. The yellow group, ELASTICITY, contained BOUNCE, FLEXIBILITY, GIVE and SPRING. The green group, THINGS THAT ARE UNDERGROUND, contained MINE SHAFT, SEWER LINE, SUBWAY STATION and WELL. The blue group, HUGH JACKMAN MOVIES, WITH 'THE', contained FOUNTAIN, PRESTIGE, SHEEP DETECTIVES and WOLVERINE. The purple group, LOVE ____, contained HANDLES, LANGUAGE, TAP and TRIANGLE. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and reported two mistakes.

NYT Strands #928 had the theme 'A little comic relief.' The answers were PEANUTS, ZIPPY, MUTTS, PICKLES, ZITS and BLONDIE, with the spangram THEFUNNYPAGES. TechRadar's hints said the spangram had 13 letters and touched the top of the first column and the bottom of the sixth column. The guide rated the puzzle Hard and reported using three hints.

TechRadar also provided clue words for Strands, including MUST, TUNE, NECK, STICK, PUPPY and BLOCK, and noted that the previous day's Strands answers were JAZZY, VIVID, BRIGHT, FLASHY, STRIKING and VIBRANT, with the spangram EYECATCHING. For Connections, the previous day's answers included ENDING IN METAL ELEMENTS, STARTING WITH U.S. COINS, POETS' MIDDLE NAMES and SAUSAGES PLUS A LETTER.

The guides are part of TechRadar's daily coverage of online word games, which also includes Wordle and the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile. The articles noted that new puzzles appear at midnight for each player's time zone, so some players may be working on 'today's' puzzle while others are still on 'yesterday's.'
