TechRadar Publishes Sunday Puzzle Answers for Quordle, Strands and Connections

TechRadar's October 11 puzzle guides give answers for Quordle #1721, NYT Strands #952 and NYT Connections #1218.

For Quordle #1721, TechRadar said the puzzle contains three different standard vowels and one repeated letter. None of the letters Q, Z, X or J appear in the four answers, and no two answers begin with the same letter. The starting letters are L, I, T and S. The answers are LILAC, INLET, TRIAD and SHAPE. In the Quordle Daily Sequence for the same game number, the answers are ETHIC, FLUME, SEDAN and SULLY. The guide notes that SHAPE was held back because several possible words remained, but the delay paid off with a winning streak that began without an incorrect guess aside from start words.

For NYT Strands #952, the theme is “They don’t make ‘em like they used to.” The puzzle’s spangram is OLDFASHIONED, which has 12 letters and touches the top row at the third column and the bottom row at the fourth column. The theme answers are PAGER, ICEBOX, INKWELL, TYPEWRITER and TELEGRAM. TechRadar listed LARGE, BOXES, PRAM, RETOLD, SLOT and GORE as clue words that unlock the in-game hints system. The guide rated the puzzle Hard and the writer reported a Perfect score.

For NYT Connections #1218, the words were HARNESS, MAP, PERUSE, PHONE, GLOVES, CABLE, APPLY, PATRICK, ELECTRICITY, WIELD, ICE SCRAPER, UTILIZE, EMPLOY, REGISTRATION, SYNTACTIC and INTERNET. The yellow group, PUT TO USE, was APPLY, HARNESS, UTILIZE and WIELD. The green group, MONTHLY BILLS, was CABLE, ELECTRICITY, INTERNET and PHONE. The blue group, THINGS YOU MIGHT FIND IN A GLOVE COMPARTMENT, was GLOVES, ICE SCRAPER, MAP and REGISTRATION. The purple group, ENDING IN GAMBITS, was EMPLOY, PATRICK, PERUSE and SYNTACTIC. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard; its writer finished with three mistakes and said the purple group’s endings, meaning ploy, trick, ruse and tactic, were missed at first. The writer also said EMPLOY seemed to belong in the yellow group before the solve was completed.

All three games are part of the daily word-game lineup. Quordle is a Wordle alternative that presents four words at once. NYT Strands and NYT Connections are published by The New York Times and can be played on desktop or mobile through the NYT Games site. TechRadar’s guides are posted around midnight for each time zone, so players may see different puzzle days depending on their location.
