TechRadar Recommends Pixel 10 Pro Over Pixel 11 Pro for Upcoming Sales

TechRadar recommends the cheaper Pixel 10 Pro over the Pixel 11 Pro this sales season, despite praising the new Magic Capture feature.

The review says Magic Capture automatically takes high-quality stills while the user records a video. Pressing the shutter button once starts recording, and pressing it again stops it, producing a regular video plus photos that capture key moments of the scene. The review describes Magic Capture as "hands-down my favorite feature" on the Pixel 11 Pro.

Even so, TechRadar's reviewer argues the Pixel 10 Pro is the better buy this sales season. In the UK, the Pixel 10 Pro is already discounted, with Amazon.co.uk selling it for £649. In the US, it is likely to see heavy Labor Day discounts. The Pixel 11 Pro, in contrast, is brand new, priced at $1,099 / £1,079 / AU$1,849, and is unlikely to receive price cuts soon. Even at full price, the Pixel 10 Pro is the cheaper phone.

Magic Capture may also not stay exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro. The review notes that Google's software features often make their way to previous-generation phones, and there is a good chance the mode will arrive on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL within a few months.

Beyond Magic Capture, the review finds few compelling upgrades on the Pixel 11 Pro. It says the HiLight feature under-delivers and the base model includes 12GB of RAM, while the Pixel 10 Pro has 16GB in all configurations. The new phone does have a slightly faster chipset and higher peak screen brightness, but the two phones are otherwise broadly similar in cameras, batteries and screens.

The recommendation comes before the Labor Day sales in the US and the approaching Black Friday season in the UK. TechRadar suggests that US shoppers watch for Pixel 10 Pro deals before settling on a new phone, and that buyers outside the US look for heavily discounted Pixel 10 Pro prices as well.
