TechRadar Releases Oct. 20 Hints and Answers for Quordle, Strands and Connections

TechRadar released Oct. 20 hints and full answers for Quordle, NYT Strands and NYT Connections.

For Quordle game #1730, TechRadar reported that the puzzle contained four different standard vowels and two answers with repeated letters. None of the letters Q, Z, X or J appeared, and no two answers began with the same letter; the starting letters were C, S, T and R. The answers were COYLY, SAUNA, TRIAL and RASPY. The separate Daily Sequence for game #1730 produced TAMER, SKIFF, LEANT and FLUID. TechRadar described Quordle as one of the original Wordle alternatives and said it was still running after more than 1,500 games.

For NYT Strands game #961, the spangram was DUCKDUCKGOOSE, a 13-letter answer that touched the left side of the second row and the right side of the sixth row. The six other answers were WALK, GAME, SELECT, CHASE, PLAYGROUND and CIRCLE. TechRadar listed SECT, SACK, RICE, PLUCK, LAKE and GLACE as clue words and rated the puzzle Easy, with a Perfect score. The guide said Strands is part of the NYT games lineup after Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections and is playable on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

For NYT Connections game #1227, TechRadar reported four groups. CLOSE, END, STOP and WRAP formed FINISH; MINION, POODLE, PUPPET and STOOGE formed LACKEY; CHEVRON, HORSESHOE, PENCIL and WALRUS formed MUSTACHES; and ARIAL, BELL, DOCK and MINI were homophones of Disney characters. TechRadar rated the puzzle Hard and reported three mistakes, saying the guide's author solved LACKEY relatively easily but initially chose DOCK instead of STOP for FINISH and got a one-away warning on the Disney homophones group after a random guess.

The guides noted that new puzzles appear at midnight each day for a player's time zone, so some players are on today's game while others are still on yesterday's. TechRadar said Connections asks players to find four groups of four items with shared traits, with colors denoting difficulty, and that players can make up to four mistakes. It said Connections is playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
