TechRadar review calls Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Gen 11 Aura Edition a creative studio in a backpack
TechRadar has reviewed the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Gen 11 Aura Edition, a 16-inch OLED touch laptop for creatives, praising its power, color accuracy and ports while flagging its high price, weight and lack of memory upgrades.
TechRadar said the machine is aimed at photo and video editors who do not necessarily need a full 4K display but want an RTX 5060 GPU and a touch-based OLED panel. It also has Intel Core chips, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a dedicated graphics card. The publication described its port selection as spectacular and its color accuracy as jaw-dropping, saying it proved to be more than a laptop and amounted to a creative graphics studio that fits in a backpack.
The reviewer highlighted the Yoga Pen Gen 2 and a haptic force trackpad, comparing the pen input to drawing and design pads that were popular years ago, where users draw on a surface and the result appears on the screen. Although the laptop also has a touchscreen, TechRadar said the pen input took about two minutes to learn because users must match their eyes on the screen to what their hand is drawing on the pad. After that, it worked well, and people who do photo editing or graphic design got used to it quickly, especially those who had used drawing pads before. The reviewer, who normally draws on an iPad, found it a little odd but not difficult to get over, and said the precision was good.
Port selection was praised. TechRadar said it was glad to see USB-A and full-size HDMI return on more pro, power and tech-savvy laptops. The reviewer uses USB-C often but still encounters places without a USB-C hub or dock, so HDMI is helpful, and USB-A helps with legacy items.
The review listed creator-driven specs and performance, a dedicated GPU, a powerful CPU, a great trackpad, incredible color accuracy and surprisingly good speakers as reasons to buy. Reasons to avoid included a very high price, a screen that is a fingerprint magnet, no memory upgrades and heavy weight.
TechRadar said the 16-inch machine is hefty but manageable for moving between a coffee shop, desk and meeting, or carrying in a quality backpack. It would not be ideal for all-day, every-day commuting, but the power makes it spectacular for its size. The OLED panel and 120 Hz motion were immediately recognizable, and the keyboard and haptic force trackpad matter for creative input, according to the review. For general professionals, TechRadar still recommended a ThinkPad such as the T14s or T16. For those who need workstation-level performance in the creative space, TechRadar said the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 11 Aura Edition hits the mark.
