TechRadar review finds Bissell CrossWave Reach Plus strong at wet-dry cleaning for $329.99
TechRadar found Bissell's $329.99 CrossWave Reach Plus effective at simultaneous vacuuming and mopping, with a 180-degree hinge for cleaning under furniture, though it cannot pick up larger debris and stores solid and wet waste in one tank.
According to the review, the CrossWave Reach Plus picks up crumbs, dog hair, spilled parmesan and coffee grounds, and handles debris smaller than a Cheerio. A 180-degree hinge lets the floorhead lie almost flat so the vacuum can reach under furniture, and the reviewer said it cleans along the right edge. TechRadar described its wet and dry cleaning performance as superb.
The review also identified limits. The vacuum cannot pick up larger pieces of debris, and solid and wet waste collect in the same dirty-water tank, which makes emptying the machine messy. TechRadar said the battery does not last as long as some rivals, but its cleaning performance was strong enough that this was not a major problem.
The Plus version lists at $329.99 and includes the vacuum, a charging tray, two sample-sized bottles of cleaning solution and a measuring cup. The non-Plus CrossWave Reach costs $279.99 and differs only by lacking the charging tray, according to the review. TechRadar compared the price with the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine at $949.99 / £599.99 / AU$949 and the Tineco Floor One S7 Pro at $799.99 / £599.99 / AU$999, noting that the Tineco offers a larger capacity and a more impressive display. TechRadar gave the Bissell 4.5 out of 5 for value for money.
The review lists the vacuum at 8.8 pounds (3.99 kg), with a 450 ml clean-water tank and a 600 ml dirty-water tank. It has Eco, Hi and Turbo modes and a maximum suction of 7AW. TechRadar's spec list gives 23 minutes of runtime in Min mode and 39 minutes in Max mode, with a charge time of 4 hours 35 minutes. The body is about 4.5 inches wide, and the handle detaches from the body. Power and mode buttons sit on the handle within thumb reach; battery-level LEDs and mode indicators face the user on the body.
A Clean-Out Cycle button on the body runs a self-cleaning cycle for the brushroll. The dirty-water tank clips onto the back of the body and is easy to remove; pulling out the filter on top exposes the collected debris. The clean-water tank clips onto the top of the floorhead and needs regular refilling. The floorhead swivels and has a hinge. TechRadar said the all-plastic build looks durable.
TechRadar's verdict said the CrossWave Reach Plus is superb for wet and dry cleaning and easy to use under furniture, though the reviewer wished it could handle larger debris. The review said that for the price it may be the best vacuum with wet-dry capabilities, while noting that buyers should know the Plus is the same as the CrossWave Reach apart from the included charging base.
