TechRadar review: Logitech Yeti 2 improves on Blue Yeti with 24-bit audio and auto tracking

The most visible change is a built-in LED display above a single dial that also works as a button. TechRadar said the display and dial replace the original Yeti’s separate volume, mute, gain and polar-pattern controls, letting users change settings and monitor audio levels without opening Logitech’s G Hub software. The review found the push-in dial occasionally unresponsive and said scrolling through settings takes longer than with dedicated controls. In G Hub, users can choose presets for interviews, singing, speech-to-text and instruments, adjust EQ, gate, compressor and input gain, and save settings to five onboard profiles; profiles can also be set to activate automatically when specific games launch.

TechRadar said the Yeti 2 delivers “much crisper and clearer” sound than the original, helped by a move from 16-bit to 24-bit audio and software noise cancellation. A new Auto Tracking polar pattern detects where sound is coming from and adjusts the pickup area, while a voice proximity sensor raises or lowers gain as the user moves closer to or farther from the mic. TechRadar said the gain feature is not perfect and picked up more echo as the reviewer moved away, but it is better than the original Yeti, where the voice simply got quieter with distance.

The review said build quality remains top notch. The metal body feels solid, the metal stand has a padded base and rubberized lugs to reduce bumps and shakes, and a thread on the bottom allows mounting on a boom arm. The display can be flipped 180 degrees for easier reading when the mic is mounted that way. TechRadar listed the all-in-one dial’s finicky behavior and a higher price than the original Yeti among drawbacks. It still concluded that the Yeti 2 is one of the best consumer desktop microphones available and a strong successor to the Blue Yeti.
