TechRadar Review Praises Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 as a Solid Business Laptop
TechRadar's review of the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 calls it a durable, capable business laptop with an excellent keyboard, strong productivity performance, and Intel and AMD options, while noting its lack of Ethernet and limits on heavy graphics work.
The ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 is available now from Lenovo and a range of online retailers, TechRadar said. Prices start at $1,500 or £1,500 for the base configuration and rise to around $3,400 or £3,400 when fully specced with RAM and storage. The review said Intel models tend to retail slightly cheaper than AMD models. For standard office work, the Intel version is probably the better choice, though not by much, while the AMD version supports up to 64GB of RAM and has an NPU rated at up to 50 TOPS, compared with up to 48 TOPS on the Intel machine.
TechRadar reviewed the AMD model and said its NPU provides enough power for general office AI use, running Copilot+, blurring webcam backgrounds, and using tools in software such as the Adobe suite. The review said the laptop turns in good performance for daily workloads, including office software, light content creation, email and video calls, but its integrated GPU cannot cope with more graphics-intensive work. The publication described the price as what it would expect for a business laptop from a brand like Lenovo, putting it on par with the Dell Pro 14.
In design and build, TechRadar said the T14s Gen 6 is every inch a ThinkPad: sleek, black, sensible and stylish. It has relatively thin bezels and carries over the webcam notch from the Gen 5 T14s; the reviewer initially found the notch showy for an enterprise-grade laptop but grew to like it because it keeps the top bezels slimmer and provides a tab for opening the lid. The screen lays flat for collaboration, a feature the review called a nice touch that marks out the T14s as a business-first laptop.
The port selection is fair, according to the review, with two USB-C ports with 65W power delivery, two USB-A ports, HDMI, a 3.5mm audio jack, a nano SIM slot and a Kensington security slot. There is no Ethernet port. As part of Lenovo's s range, the T14s Gen 6 is marginally slimmer than the traditional T14 and strips out certain enterprise features such as the Ethernet port and upgradeable RAM, TechRadar said. The review added that this may not be a deal-breaker for most workers, particularly those who use a strong wireless connection and choose 32GB of memory, or up to 64GB on the AMD version.
TechRadar listed a webcam privacy shutter and a range of Intel and AMD configurations among the reasons to buy. It listed the lack of an Ethernet port, so-so video call quality, the inability to handle heavy graphical workloads and the price among reasons to avoid. The review said the slim-ish design makes the laptop good for carrying to and from the office, although it is not exactly ultraportable. It also noted that the T14s Gen 6 is not the cheapest business laptop.
The publication said it still considers the ThinkPad line-up the top pick for business professionals, with 14-inch laptops being the sweet spot for screen clarity and portability. The T14s Gen 6 does nothing to change that, according to the review. TechRadar gave the laptop a value score of 4 out of 5 and said that for most people it will easily hit the mark as the best business laptop. The reviewer said they would still opt for a ThinkPad over HP and Dell chiefly for build quality, repairability and the keyboard, though performance-wise it is much of a muchness.
