TechRadar Roundup Spotlights Six Fitness Trackers That Break From the Smartwatch Mold
TechRadar on Sept. 20, 2026, published a roundup of six wearables that diverge from the feature-packed mainstream, from Casio's retro step-counting F-B100W to the LightInk, which runs 400 days per charge.
The Casio F-B100W, which TechRadar said recently made headlines, takes the company's classic rubbery, blocky watch body and adds step-counting features. The roundup presents it as the clearest example of a wearable that trades conventional smartwatch capability for a familiar, retro look.
Huawei's Watch D3 is described as appearing to be a standard modern smartwatch but carrying a concealed, built-in blood pressure cuff. The design places a medical-style measurement function inside a case that does not visually advertise it.
For buyers who prefer a traditional watch appearance, TechRadar points to the Garmin Instinct Crossover and the Withings Scanwatch 2, both of which pair smartwatch features with mechanical hands. According to the roundup, neither device is especially new, but both have stayed popular by blending digital and analog functions without an obvious seam.
The list also covers two options from outside the major watch brands. The Jaye band is an ultra-minimalist smartwatch that shows only the most important notifications on a tiny screen, an approach TechRadar frames as reducing distractions rather than adding features. The LightInk, meanwhile, is said to run for 400 days on a single charge, a runtime the roundup attributes to solar charging, the replacement of a typical vibrant AMOLED panel with a low-energy monochrome e-ink display, and a sharp reduction in smart features. The device is open source, so TechRadar says anyone could own one with the help of a 3D printer and a few basic components.
