Tencent Launches WorkBuddy Finance Edition for AI Agents in Financial Services
Tencent launches WorkBuddy Finance Edition, an AI agent workstation for banks and insurers, after 100+ pilots.
Since March this year, WorkBuddy has already “joined” more than 100 financial institutions, including CICC, SDIC Securities, Ping An Bank and China Taiping, Tencent Cloud vice president Hu Liming said. “During this period, we and our customers explored dozens of core implementation scenarios together. It is fair to say that WorkBuddy Finance Edition was co-created with financial customers.”
Hu described the core of the edition as an intelligent work platform that layers financial business views, industry skills, expert teams, MCP applications, data connectors, process rules and organizational governance on top of WorkBuddy's agent framework.
The platform offers four specialized workbenches — corporate finance, retail finance, investment research and advisory, and customer operations — and includes more than 80 finance-specific experts or expert groups available out of the box. Insurance agents can invoke experts for life-insurance sales assistance, demand diagnosis and proposal generation; corporate banking managers can use credit due-diligence and wealth-allocation experts; and securities analysts and investment advisers can access tools such as IPO specialists and capital-market roadshow research teams.
The edition also connects to broad financial data sources, covering private fund performance, analyst consensus expectations, real-time market data, financial research, business registration verification and global fund ratings, the report said. On security, it places data governance across data, permissions, execution and auditing, and supports three deployment models: private deployment keeps models, data, tool invocation and audit chains inside a financial institution so core data does not leave the premises; a dedicated VPC model uses isolated resources to connect WorkBuddy with an institution's internal business systems; and a SaaS model provides enterprise-grade tenant isolation, permission control, information masking, encryption and audit logs for quick pilots in non-core scenarios. In all modes, administrators can centrally configure security policies, network and command whitelists, tool-call permissions, user and organization permissions, and audit rules.
WorkBuddy Finance Edition is deeply integrated with WeCom. Employees can @ the robot in group chats to initiate due-diligence, quality-checking or customer-management tasks, with progress, pending items and risk alerts synced back to WeCom. Critical actions such as command execution, file modification and result confirmation require manual confirmation in WeCom, keeping AI execution within organizational boundaries.
Leiphone reported that the platform redefines bank, asset-management and insurance workflows. In corporate credit due diligence, a process that conventionally took about 10 days can be compressed to one day: WorkBuddy generates material lists, identifies missing items, cross-analyzes risks using multiple data sources and produces a due-diligence draft with cited evidence for the client manager to review. In asset-management investment research, cross-channel information filtering and monitoring that took two to three hours now takes 10 minutes, while investment-adviser hot-topic commentary drops from one to two hours to five to 10 minutes. Fund research and portfolio penetration analysis, using Morningstar data, fall from one to two days to 30 minutes. In insurance customer management, an agent's visit preparation is cut from 30–60 minutes to less than 10 minutes, and generating three product proposals falls from two to three hours to less than 30 minutes, translating to roughly 10-fold efficiency gains.
Hu Liming said financial AI is moving “from tool trials to business refactoring.” He said the goal is not only individual productivity but organization-level intelligent collaboration. “From bank due diligence to insurance operations, from investment research and advisory to wealth allocation and compliance review, WorkBuddy Finance Edition can help financial institutions reorganize their scattered systems, data, tools, processes and experience, entering an AI-native era for traditional financial business,” he added.
Editor’s Summary: Tencent has launched WorkBuddy Finance Edition, an AI workstation for banks, brokerages and insurers, with more than 80 finance specialists and flexible deployment options. The product follows deployments at more than 100 financial institutions and reports roughly 10-fold efficiency gains in credit due diligence, research and insurance customer tasks.
