Tesla Secures $30 Billion in Credit Lines for Cybercab, Optimus, Semi

Tesla secured $30B in credit lines from Citibank and Wells Fargo to help scale the Cybercab, Optimus, and Semi.

The company announced Tuesday that Citibank agreed to a $20 billion three-year delayed-draw term loan facility. Wells Fargo also signed an $8 billion five-year revolving credit facility and a $2 billion revolving credit facility with a 364-day term. The three facilities together total $30 billion.

Tesla said in a regulatory filing that it does not plan to draw on the loan facilities this year. The company has already projected that it will spend at least $25 billion on capital expenditures for 2026. Tesla finished the second quarter of this year with around $9 billion in debt and more than $40 billion in cash and investments.

All three of the new products have required new manufacturing lines. For the Semi and the Optimus robot, Tesla has taken the approach of building out new dedicated factories, according to the report.

The Cybercab is Tesla's robotaxi product. Optimus is its humanoid robot. The Semi is its electric heavy-duty truck. The company has not said that it will draw on the new credit lines for any specific product first. It has only said that the facilities could be used to help scale the three products and that it does not plan to draw on them this year.

The announcement did not include a timeline for drawing on the facilities beyond this year. It also did not specify how much of the $30 billion Tesla might use for each product. The credit lines provide additional financing capacity as the company pursues capital-intensive manufacturing for the three new product lines.
