The Great British Bake Off Season 17 to Premiere Sept. 22 With Nigella Lawson

The Great British Bake Off season 17 premieres on Channel 4 in the UK on Sept. 22, with Nigella Lawson entering the tent. UK viewers can watch free, while U.S., Canadian and Australian audiences will see the show through Netflix, CBC and Binge.

TechRadar reported that UK viewers need a TV licence. Live streaming is available on Channel 4's platform with an account and a UK postcode, such as HA9 0WS. The companion show Second Helpings will air in a late-night slot each Tuesday.

The new season introduces Nigella Lawson to the tent, a change TechRadar described as the Nigella Lawson era of the program. Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding return to guide the bakers, and Paul Hollywood returns to judge. TechRadar also said Audience Choice week will disrupt regular programming, and family members are set to get involved, possibly to the bakers' detriment.

TechRadar listed the 12 bakers as Clara Satchell-Silva, 24, a marketing graduate from Hertfordshire; Elizabeth Connie Lewis, 63, an NHS hospital discharge lead from London; Danni, 25, an HGV service centre administrator from Dorset; Gabe Capes, 32, an artist and drag king from the West Midlands; Gary Harding, 67, a retired garment technologist from Nottinghamshire; Mo Mahirr, 21, a law student from the West Midlands; Molly Chauhan, 31, an accessibility coordinator from London; Moyin Odeniran, 22, a political economy student from Essex; Nikki, 50, an advertising post-producer from London; Shannon Amy, 29, a project planner and scheduler from Gloucestershire; Tom Whittaker, 25, a hairdresser from West Yorkshire; and Yannis, 28, a paediatric doctor from London.

TechRadar said Gabe will try packing meat into most bakes; Yannis watched GBBO in an effort to learn English; and Connie always has a jar of fruit soaking in her signature rum, wine and cinnamon mix.

In the US, the show will air on Netflix as The Great British Baking Show collection 14, with prices starting at $8.99 per month, TechRadar reported. New episodes will be added every Friday starting Sept. 25.

In Canada, it airs on CBC and streams on the free CBC Gem platform. TechRadar noted that season 16 did not air in Canada until March 2026, six months after its UK premiere.

In Australia, Binge carries the show, with subscriptions starting at $10 per month after a seven-day free trial. TechRadar said season 16 began airing in Australia on Nov. 18 last year, 11 weeks after the UK premiere.
