The Split Up Premieres on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Sept. 20

The series centers on Kishan Law, a British South Asian family law firm in Manchester whose reputation has attracted an exclusive and wealthy clientele, making it the go-to firm for the city's elite divorcees. Aria, played by Ritu Arya, is on the cusp of inheriting the firm from her father Dhruv, played by Sanjeev Bhaskar. After the death of her mother, Dhruv begins to doubt Aria's ability to take on the role. Her fiancé Neal, played by Danny Ashok, emerges as a safer option, setting up a conflict that moves between professional and personal lines. Returning former flames and long-buried family secrets add to the drama. The show blends ongoing storylines with a case-of-the-week approach, with guest stars including Lenny Henry, Jane Horrocks and Jameela Jamil.

BBC One will air the series on Sundays and Mondays at 9 p.m. BST, starting Sept. 20. The schedule lists episode one on Sept. 20, episode two on Sept. 21, episode three on Sept. 27, episode four on Sept. 28, episode five on Oct. 4 and episode six on Oct. 5. BBC iPlayer will host all six episodes from Sept. 20 and also carries the original The Split, TechRadar reports.

The cast also includes Aysha Kala as Maya and Arian Nik as Kav. The Split Up is set in the same world as The Split, which starred Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan and ran for three seasons before returning for a two-part special. Abi Morgan, creator of the original series and an executive producer on the spin-off, said the new iteration takes elements loved about the original, including messy dramas, small squabbles and silent internal struggles between siblings, parents and new relationships, and relocates them to a new city and a new family.

For UK viewers, the series can be streamed free on BBC iPlayer. Viewers outside the UK face regional restrictions that block BBC iPlayer.
