Three Chinese Automakers Launch New Models with Extended Range and Advanced Chassis
In 24 hours, Fangchengbao, IM Motors and Aion unveiled new models with longer electric range and advanced chassis technology.
Fangchengbao launched the Titan 7 DM long-range version on Aug. 18 at a starting price of 195,800 yuan. The new model features a 50kWh battery, delivering a CLTC electric-only range of 315km for the rear-drive version and 300km for the all-wheel-drive version. Combined range exceeds 1,400km and 1,300km respectively. The price is 6,000 yuan higher than the previous Titan 7 high-spec models, but the battery capacity is about 40% larger than the old 35.6kWh unit.
The Titan 7 DM long-range version retains the boxy design and five-seat layout. It comes with two powertrain options: a rear-wheel-drive version with a 200kW front motor and an all-wheel-drive version adding a 200kW rear motor, enabling a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds. The suspension uses a front double-wishbone and rear five-link setup with the Yunqi-C intelligent damping system. A factory trailer hitch with a 2-ton towing capacity is available as a 4,000-yuan option.
According to Fangchengbao, cumulative sales of the Titan 7 series have surpassed 200,000 units since its launch in September 2025, making it the fastest boxy SUV to reach that milestone. In July, the Titan 7 sold 17,820 units and the Titan 7 EV Flash Charge version sold 9,500 units, totaling about 27,000 vehicles. The Fangchengbao brand sold 41,213 units in the same month.
IM Motors opened pre-sales for the all-new L6 on Aug. 18. The standard lineup includes Max, Pro Max and Ultra trims priced at 219,900 yuan, 234,900 yuan and 269,900 yuan respectively. A limited edition co-designed with Prof. Jimmy Choo starts at 234,900 yuan for the 76kWh version and 249,900 yuan for the 93kWh version, with only 1,000 units available.
The L6 is described by IM as the world's first sedan to standardize a full wire-controlled chassis, combining steer-by-wire, dual rear-wheel steering with up to 18 degrees of angle, and Continental MKC2 brake-by-wire. The steer-by-wire system eliminates the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels, allowing the steering ratio to vary by speed and scenario. The company says it has triple redundant safety, with a reliability rating of 10FIT.
The L6's three standard versions differ in battery and powertrain. The Max has a 76kWh LFP battery with a 725km CLTC range and a 245kW rear motor, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds. The Pro Max uses a 93kWh CATL battery for an 850km range and a 300kW motor, reducing the sprint to 4.9 seconds. The Ultra, priced at 269,900 yuan, features a 103kWh ternary battery and dual motors with 500kW peak power, achieving 0-100km/h in 2.74 seconds, while air suspension is included.
IM says the L6 is built on a new NEO architecture with 800V electrics, minimum energy consumption of 11.6kWh/100km, and a peak charging power of 396kW, which restores 580km of range in 15 minutes. The cabin includes B&O audio, a smart sunroof, a 5.7L cool/warm fridge, ventilated, heated and massaging front seats, and heated rear seats.
The Jimmy Choo limited edition features a silver body, black roof, blue brake calipers and a signature plaque. It adds crystal ornaments on badges and interior controls, natural mother-of-pearl trim, and a blue leather interior inspired by a pair of blue silk shoes Jimmy Choo made for Princess Diana in 1997. The limited edition costs 15,000 yuan more than the corresponding standard versions.
Aion unveiled the Ray7 at a launch event in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, on Aug. 19. It is the first model under Aion's new logo and the first vehicle globally to feature Huawei's DriveONE chip-level drive-brake fusion architecture and Huawei iTRACK intelligent torque control. The Ray7 is a mid-to-large pure electric sedan positioned for young urban buyers.
The Ray7 has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.22Cd, a braking distance of 33 meters from 100km/h, and an electric consumption of 12km per kWh, giving a CLTC range of 700km. It uses a CATL battery with Aion's second-generation magazine battery technology. For intelligent driving, it is equipped with 27 sensors including a 192-line lidar and three 4D millimeter-wave radars, and uses a large model derived from WeRide's L4 robotaxi, supporting complex scenarios such as village roads, narrow lanes, and parking lot navigation.
Aion and Huawei also signed a cooperation agreement at the event to deepen technical collaboration. The Ray7 is based on a rear-wheel-drive pure electric platform and inherits chassis tuning from Alfa Romeo, featuring an aluminum double-wishbone front suspension, rear five-link suspension, FSD adaptive dampers and stabilizer bars.
