Three new Macs rumored for fall: M6 MacBook Pro, high-end MacBook, and M6 iMac

Apple launched Mac mini and Mac Studio today, but reports say three more Macs are coming this fall, including an M6 MacBook Pro, a redesigned high-end MacBook, and an M6 iMac.

The base model 14-inch MacBook Pro is reportedly getting an M6 update this fall, expected to launch in October, about one year after last year's M5 model debuted. The new MacBook Pro will have the same design as the current model, with little to no discernible difference externally. Internally, the M6 chip unveiled today is expected to deliver big performance and efficiency gains. M6 is built with a 2-nanometer process and features a larger 12-core CPU complex with the world's fastest CPU core, a larger 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, and up to 170GB/s of unified memory bandwidth.

Apple also has a new high-end MacBook coming soon that might be branded MacBook Pro or possibly MacBook Ultra, powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max. This new MacBook will offer several innovations not seen in the Mac before, including a touchscreen, OLED, Dynamic Island, and a brand new industrial design that is thinner and lighter than the current MacBook Pro. The report says a launch in October is expected, but the release could potentially slip into early 2027.

Additionally, the iMac was originally expected to get an M5 update, but Apple is now reportedly planning to jump straight to the M6 instead. Apple is preparing a version with the M6 chip that won't change much else, other than some new color options. According to 9to5Mac, all signs point to the M6 iMac models being close to launch, and they should be available before the end of the year. Like the new Mac mini, which also skipped M5, the M6 iMac should offer up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster storage and graphics, and 40 percent faster CPU performance compared to the previous M4 model.

The report notes that the M6 MacBook Pro and M6 iMac are expected to be released in the coming months, while the high-end MacBook's timing remains uncertain. Apple has not officially confirmed any of these upcoming products.
