Thrustmaster Unveils Officially Licensed Gran Turismo 7 T-GT III Steering Wheel for PS4 and PS5
Thrustmaster has announced the T-GT III steering wheel for PS4 and PS5, its first Direct Axial Drive bundle built for Gran Turismo 7, priced at $749.99 and launching December 3.
The bundle includes the T-GT steering wheel, which has a leather finish and four rotary encoders mapped for Gran Turismo. According to Thrustmaster, it is the first T-GT package to natively integrate a load-cell pedal set. The wheel delivers a constant torque of 5 Nm with an overshoot capacity of up to 10 Nm, a design the company says prevents saturation and provides ultra-low latency and instant responsiveness.
Thrustmaster said the hardware also combines its Harmony technology with high-frequency torque to produce haptic effects built for the game. "Gear Jolt" lets players feel gear shifts, while "Engine Roar" makes the chassis resonate in time with engine RPM.
The T-GT III arrives in the 16th year of Thrustmaster's partnership with Gran Turismo. "Engineered without compromise for the most demanding sim racers, the T-GT III represents the ultimate expression of Thrustmaster's expertise and delivers an authentic and immersive Gran Turismo experience in a turnkey bundle," the company said.
Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo series, said the long partnership has allowed the two companies to extend the desired sensations through a steering wheel as both technology and the game have evolved, adding that Thrustmaster is now a partner of the Gran Turismo World Series.
Thrustmaster plans to keep updating the T-GT III through software and firmware to keep pace with Gran Turismo's Spec updates, which it said ensures long-term support for players. Spec IV is the next free update and will be released in two parts, with the first arriving this month and the second in December.
Gilles Raulet, director of development and licensing at Thrustmaster, said meeting Gran Turismo's standards has been demanding, and that Yamauchi's commitment to the game over 16 years has led the company to accept projects it believes others would have declined in order to reach that level of fidelity. He said the collaboration continues to inspire Thrustmaster's teams because passion remains at the heart of their discussions.
