Timekettle W4 Plus brings specialized AI translation to interpreter earbuds
At IFA 2026, Timekettle unveiled the W4 Plus AI interpreter earbuds, designed for natural two-way conversations with five specialized translation domains and contextual memory.
A key feature is One-on-One mode, where one person's speech is translated almost immediately for the other listener, and vice versa. Users can adjust translation speed and choose between male and female voice output. The design lets speakers maintain eye contact, which the report notes makes a meaningful difference in conversation.
The W4 Plus also introduces Translation Refinement and Conversation Memory, which use earlier parts of a conversation to inform later translations. This helps keep terms consistent, such as specific contract language mentioned twenty minutes prior, instead of drifting into different phrasing.
The headline upgrade is AI Specialized Translation, part of the upgraded Babel OS 3.0 software. Before a conversation starts, users can select from five translation domains: General, Tech & Internet, Manufacturing & Industry, New Energy & Green Tech, and Biotech & Pharma. This is meant to handle industry-specific jargon that general-purpose translation models often struggle with, such as technical supply-chain calls, factory-floor discussions, or biotech research talks.
For accurate voice capture, the W4 Plus pairs a Bone-Voiceprint Sensor with noise-reduction algorithms. This helps isolate the wearer's voice in noisy environments like cafés, airports, trade shows, or busy offices, even when speaking softly.
Beyond face-to-face translation, the earbuds offer Listen & Play for one-way interpretation during conferences, guided tours, and lectures. Voice Call translation covers phone calls and online meetings, with translated audio delivered to both sides. Multi-Media translation handles audio and video content in real time with synchronized subtitles. A One-Earbud Listening mode lets users hear both original and translated audio through a single earbud during calls or multimedia, allowing awareness of surroundings.
These modes are designed to support users throughout a normal work week, from client calls and lectures to factory tours and video calls.
