Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Will Let Players Tune Combat, Puzzle and Traversal Difficulty Separately
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will offer separately adjustable difficulty for combat, puzzles and traversal, its developers say.
The feature was described during a Q&A held after an exclusive presentation at Gamescom, which TechRadar Gaming attended. Experience director Jeff Adams and Flying Wild Hog creative director Michał Kuk spoke about building the title from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 and the modern hardware features the studios were able to use as a result.
According to the developers, Legacy of Atlantis is neither a remake nor a remaster of the 1996 original but a reimagining for current-generation platforms, which is how new systems absent from the first game, including the difficulty options, were added.
Kuk said the scaling was designed so that players can shape the challenge to suit themselves. "With difficulty levels, we have prepared it in a way that I'm pretty sure everyone can set it for their own pleasure," he said.
He gave a personal example of how the three settings can be combined: a player who wants puzzle-solving closer to the 1996 game can set puzzles to hardcore, while switching combat to easy or medium, and keeping traversal on medium. "You can adjust the game basically however you want," he added.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for release on February 27, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
