TP-Link’s first Wi-Fi 8 router is almost here
TP-Link unveiled its first Wi-Fi 8 router and mesh system at IFA 2026, with preorders starting September 30.
The Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router features 18 internal antennas and delivers wireless speeds up to 19Gbps, with 10Gbps over wired connections. The Deco 8 Ultra mesh system offers up to 22Gbps wireless and 10Gbps wired connectivity, and a three-pack covers up to 9,800 square feet while supporting more than 200 connected devices.
TP-Link has not revealed pricing, but said the Archer 8 Ultra will be available for preorder in “select regions” starting September 30. The Deco 8 Ultra is planned for release in Q1 2027, while other Wi-Fi 8 products, including range extenders, adapters, and the Roam 8 travel router, are expected in Q2 2027.
The Wi-Fi 7 standard was only finalized in January 2024, so these products arrive before many users have upgraded to the previous spec. Wi-Fi 8 certification is not expected until May 2028. TP-Link is also addressing concerns over the US ban on foreign-made routers by using Broadcom, Qualcomm, and MediaTek chipsets, and says it employs “US-led hardware and software engineering to deliver the most reliable Wi-Fi ever built.”
