Trettitre Retro Ambient Audio System Ships After $2M Kickstarter
Trettitre’s wall-mounted turntable, CD and cassette system is shipping after a $2M Kickstarter campaign.
TechRadar reported that the campaign raised the money in 15 days during March and April. Late pledges of $399 are still available for the full bundle, the report said, while Trettitre lists the full manufacturer’s suggested retail price at $899. Because the post-campaign bundle costs $500 less, TechRadar said it is unclear whether the system will ever sell at that MSRP. Components can be bought separately.
The system uses a magnetic wall rack. TechRadar reported that the components can be removed from the wall and used on the go because they have built-in batteries. The turntable, called the TTT-LP3, has an Audio-Technica AT-3600LA cartridge and plays at 33.3 or 45 rpm. It also has a built-in lighting panel with adjustable colors. TechRadar said the turntable’s battery life is listed at six hours, or three hours when it is used only as a light source.
The CD player, the TTT-DP3, supports CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs and has a sliding cover release, according to the report. The cassette player, the TTT-CP3, has large light-up buttons and a clean, modernist design. Each unit has a 3.5mm jack. TechRadar reported that they are clearly designed to be used with Bluetooth speakers, unless a user runs a long 3.5mm cable to the wall rack.
A speaker is not included in the box. Trettitre sells speakers and other add-ons separately, TechRadar reported. The publication also said the system’s price is low for such a complex setup and suggested waiting for user reports after shipping before buying. It said the system may not suit die-hard audiophiles but offers flexibility for physical-media users.
