Ulysses adds Siri AI support, customizable toolbars and project templates in an update released after iOS 27 and macOS 27, according to 9to5Mac.

Siri AI support is available except to users in the European Union, according to the report. It includes onscreen awareness and a dedicated button in the macOS toolbar that opens the Siri AI interface for writing, rewriting, proofreading and other work with text.

The app's toolbar can now be fully customized, and users can arrange navigation buttons, blocks, spaces, suggestions and other items in it. The release also introduces new group icons built on pictograms the report describes as much requested, and improves accessibility support when editing filter conditions and group icons.

Visual adjustments bring the app closer to the look of iOS 27 and macOS 27. Project templates are new as well: when creating a project, a user can select a template so that the project begins with a couple of dummy groups and sheets.

9to5Mac described the release from the perspective of a long-time user, saying the first Ulysses note in that writer's archive dates to December 2016 and that the app has been used on a Mac nearly every day since, for drafting emails, podcast show notes and articles. The report characterizes Ulysses as a plain writing app with strong Markdown support and few distractions.
