A purported retail video of iPhone 18 Pro colors is likely fake, 9to5Mac says, citing staging details and the leaker's recent reliance on reposted content.

According to the report, the footage shows someone holding what is said to be a dark cherry iPhone 18 Pro Max and placing a dark blue iPhone 17 Pro Max next to it for comparison. A light blue model is visible on a stand. The environment appears to be a retail store, and Macworld suggested the clip could be genuine, 9to5Mac noted.

9to5Mac acknowledged that display units could plausibly have reached retailers by now, which would make authentic footage theoretically possible. Still, it said the store scene fails to convince. The display table is far too small, the product tags are set loose at random angles, and the background gives no sense of a real shop.

The publication also pointed out that realistic dummy phones are easy to obtain. Fernando Silva, a 9to5Mac editor, said after attending the IFA trade show that every case maker there had dummy units that looked and felt real.

9to5Mac further noted that the leaker, despite some track record in the past, has recently been aggregating posts from Chinese social media, not providing original leaks.
