Vivo X Fold 6 Launches Globally With Traditional Foldable Design and Camera-First Specs
Vivo has begun the international release of its X Fold 6, a book-style foldable first launched in China in June. TechRadar reported it will not go on sale in the UK or US, while The Verge said Vivo had not yet shared pricing or specific markets.
TechRadar reported that the X Fold 6 will not launch in the UK or US and will be available in select European markets. The Verge reported that Vivo was launching the phone outside China but had not provided the price or specific markets ahead of the release; The Verge said it would update its article once it had those details.
The Verge described the X Fold 6 as feeling like a throwback because it keeps the same size as Vivo’s previous foldables and most foldables released before Apple and Samsung moved to shorter, wider form factors. Its 6.51-inch cover display uses a standard 20:9 aspect ratio, while the inner screen measures 8.02 inches and is almost square. The Verge said the crease is quite visible and the IP59 rating is good but not great. TechRadar said the phone feels like a Pro Max-sized flagship when folded and that its cover screen is neither as narrow as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s nor as short as the iPhone Duo’s. The design is intended to work as a regular phone that opens into a spacious tablet, and TechRadar said apps are well suited to the cover screen, with two apps able to run side by side in their intended aspect ratio when the phone is open. TechRadar found the X Fold 6 big and heavy, especially next to the slender Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, but said it weighs 235 grams, less than the smaller iPhone Duo at 254 grams. The camera bump is likely to divide opinions, TechRadar said.
The X Fold 6’s camera system is its main differentiator. It has a 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.4-inch-type sensor, which The Verge said is one of the largest on any foldable and smaller only than Huawei’s. It is paired with 50-megapixel telephoto and ultrawide cameras. TechRadar said the telephoto is the most impressive it has seen on a foldable, and the phone supports the same external teleconverter lens as the X300 Ultra. Vivo’s Zeiss partnership brings T* lens coatings and co-developed picture styles. TechRadar, which said it has tested almost every foldable phone in 2026, called Vivo’s photos and videos probably the best so far; it said that while it has not tried the iPhone Duo, it owns an iPhone 18 Pro and in most situations prefers the results from the X Fold 6. Without a telephoto, TechRadar does not see Apple competing on that front.
The phone runs on a custom Super Edition of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 and includes a 6,900mAh battery. TechRadar said that battery delivered two days on a charge with heavy use, including time on the large folding screen and taking many photos. It supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, and TechRadar said it can charge fully from empty in about 35 minutes. Apple has not revealed the iPhone Duo’s battery capacity, but TechRadar noted Apple said the Duo can offer up to 24 hours of typical use and up to a 50 percent charge in 20 minutes; Apple has not confirmed the wired speed.
Origin OS 7 is closer to iOS in aesthetics than earlier Vivo software, according to TechRadar, with a Dynamic Island clone, Liquid Glass styling and similar lock screen customization. TechRadar said customization options are extremely detailed. On multitasking, it said all sources report that the iPhone Duo can display only two apps side by side in split view, with windows that are not resizable and always split 50/50. TechRadar described Vivo’s multitasking approach as on a whole different level.
