Vivo X500 to bring Pro-grade camera hardware to standard flagship, report says
Vivo’s standard X500 will get the X300 Pro's 50MP main camera and a 64MP periscope, signaling a shift in flagship camera strategy.
The X300 Pro has earned a reputation as one of the best camera phones on the market, thanks to its large main sensor and capable telephoto camera. Now, vivo's product manager, Han Boxiao, confirmed on Weibo that the standard X500 will adopt the 50MP LYTIA-828 sensor, a 1/1.28-inch sensor from the X300 Pro. It also includes CIPA 5.5 stabilization, giving the base model the same main-camera hardware that helped make its Pro predecessor a formidable photography tool.
The X500 additionally gets a Pro-grade 64MP periscope camera, with CIPA 5.5 stabilization and support for 4K/120fps slow-motion video. This could signal a shift in vivo's approach, with top-tier camera hardware moving down from Pro and Ultra models to the standard variant. The X500 series is expected to launch this month, according to the report.
