Voicemod's Key Pocket Brings Real-Time Voice Changing to Phones

Voicemod launches Key Pocket, a $99.90 device for real-time voice changing on phones during games, calls, and streams.

The original Voicemod Key, launched in late 2024, used a smartphone only as an interface between Voicemod's mobile app and Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch consoles. The new Key Pocket can alter a user's voice or trigger sound effects during multiplayer games, phone or video calls, and streams on Apple or Android devices.

At $99.90, the Key Pocket is sold as a standalone device. The $129.90 bundle adds a Voicemod Pro license; the extra $30 over the standalone price provides lifetime access to hundreds of voices created by Voicemod and thousands made by the community, the ability to create custom voices, and cloud syncing across multiple platforms without a subscription.

Voicemod first moved beyond PC with Voicemod Clips on iOS and Android in 2020, but the mobile app could change voices only when recording short video or audio clips that users shared afterward. Privacy restrictions on mobile operating systems prevent apps from altering microphone audio and sending it to other apps, The Verge reported.

The Key Pocket does not change those restrictions. It sticks to the back of phones or tablets that support magnetic accessories and functions as an external audio bridge. Audio from a wired or Bluetooth microphone connected to the Pocket is altered by Voicemod's mobile app and then made available to other apps through a short USB-C cable connected to the mobile device. Those apps can include Fortnite, Roblox, Discord, or apps used for phone or video calls.

With the Pro license, the app provides access to more than 200 voices created by Voicemod, instead of a small selection of constantly rotating voices available for free, and more than 76,000 additional options created by the community. The Pocket has six programmable buttons for quickly swapping between voices or triggering short soundboard clips, a dedicated mute button, and a customizable glowing LED dial for altering voices or adjusting volume.

Like the Voicemod Key, the Key Pocket can also be used as a voice changer for the latest generation of consoles, including the Switch 2 and recent versions of the Meta Quest headset, according to The Verge.
