Walmart cuts Metroid Ravenous physical preorder price to $59.88
Walmart is selling Metroid Ravenous physical preorders for Switch 2 at $59.88. The side-scroller launches Jan. 28, 2027.
The Verge reported that it is not clear how long Walmart's preorder discount will last. Like other Walmart preorders, the price may occasionally disappear.
Nintendo first showed Metroid Ravenous during its September 2026 Direct. The Verge described a frantic trailer that cut between cinematic sequences, Samus dashing and rolling across a variety of environments, and engaging a number of enemies and bosses in battle. The game marks a return to the series' 2D roots and is the first side-scrolling Metroid game since 2021's Metroid Dread for the Nintendo Switch.
At the end of Metroid Dread, Samus absorbs some powerful abilities, and Ravenous appears to center on her plowing through anyone trying to stop her from escaping the planet, according to The Verge. Other story details, including unique new mechanics, are being kept under wraps for now.
The Verge also recommended Metroid Dread to players who have not tried it, citing a discounted price of $41.99 at Amazon. That price is part of Nintendo's "Customer Appreciation" sale, which runs through Sept. 26 and includes cheaper prices on several other games and accessories.
