Waymo Starts Las Vegas Airport Rides, Its Sixth Major Airport

Waymo begins Las Vegas airport rides, its sixth major airport, initially for a few riders.

The airport service is Waymo’s sixth major airport. The company already offers rides at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Nashville International, San Antonio International, San Francisco International and San José International airports.

Waymo began offering rides to the public in Las Vegas in September and is already serving a 24-square-mile area in the city. The company said airport rides will be limited at first to a few riders before opening to all customers.

Amazon-owned Zoox already offers rides at the Las Vegas airport. In August, state regulators approved permits allowing Tesla and Uber to put thousands of robotaxis on the city’s streets in the next year, TechCrunch reported.

Editor's Summary

Waymo has started airport service at Harry Reid International in Las Vegas, its sixth major airport, initially for a limited number of riders. The service expands Waymo’s Las Vegas operations beyond its existing 24-square-mile area and adds competition in a market where Zoox already offers airport rides and Tesla and Uber have permits for robotaxis next year.
