Waze and Google Maps bugs on Android Auto hide key navigation info
Bugs hide journey info in Waze and speedometer in Google Maps on Android Auto, per user reports.
Waze users report that when they switch from split-screen mode to full-screen mode, the app stops showing the journey information box. The same users say the information returns when an alert arrives, but disappears again once the alert clears. Complaints have been filed on Google's forums, and the issue was spotted by Autoevolution.
Meanwhile, Google Maps on Android Auto is losing features that only recently launched. After the live speedometer began rolling out to selected beta testers in July, some users now say both the speedometer and the speed limit indicator have vanished from their screens. Others add that stop signs and traffic lights are no longer visible either.
Google Maps has offered a live speedometer on mobile and on Apple's CarPlay for some time, but Android Auto only received the feature in recent months. The root cause of either problem remains unknown. Android Authority said it has reached out to Google for comment and will update the story when new information becomes available.
