Whale Entertainment Launches Jingrui AI Platform for Film and TV Production and Management

Whale Entertainment Group unveiled Jingrui AI, which it calls the industry's first AI film and television production and management platform, at the 2026 Apsara Conference. Internal testing is set for October, with places reserved for professional creators and production teams.

Du Yanlong, chief technology officer of Whale Entertainment Group, said the platform is intended to reduce wasted generation attempts, keep the production process precisely controllable and support collaboration among large, multi-discipline teams. "As AI technology develops rapidly in China and AI talent grows explosively, the entertainment industry is facing an era of opportunity to overtake Hollywood by changing lanes," Du said. "The real opportunity in the entertainment industry is not how much content is produced with AI, but participating in defining the production standards of a new generation of content industry."

Over the past three years, AI video generation has advanced quickly in image quality, clarity and the naturalness of motion. When AI video moves into industrial delivery, however, the industry runs into a common set of problems: within a single shot, characters drift in consistency, motion is distorted, camera language is imprecise and styles are hard to unify. Once a project begins, repeated generation makes schedules uncontrollable, makes production cycles difficult to estimate and makes computing costs hard to trace. During team collaboration, versions become chaotic, experience is hard to reuse, assets are hard to accumulate and results are hard to reproduce.

"In the past we understood these problems as the models not being strong enough. But as model capabilities kept improving, the problems kept recurring. We realized this is not simply a model problem, but a production system problem," Du said. Traditional film production supports complex collaboration through division of labor, processes, standards and asset systems, holding uncertainty within manageable bounds, and AI creation needs to make the same leap, he said. Delivering a good shot and delivering a good work are two different things, according to Du, who said the next stage is not about who can generate a single good shot but about who can help a creative team deliver a good work continuously, explainably and within budget.

Jingrui AI organizes its creative controls into five precision suites covering scenes, character performance, cameras, virtual sets and lighting adjustment. For camera work, creators can call on more than 40 professional parameters directly rather than adjusting settings manually. The platform also offers more than 250 combined scene editing options, 49 basic expression controls and more than 100 character pose placeholders, which the company says turn industry knowledge into operational, reusable controls. A set of professional skills runs through the production chain, from adjustments to realistic assets and professional lens expression to super-resolution, HDR and voice consistency.

On team management, Whale Entertainment says Jingrui AI is the first in the industry to support large teams and multiple types of work, moving beyond existing tools built for AI creative teams of fewer than 10 people. Production can be organized by project, episode, scene and character, with digital assets, prompts, skills and workflows pooled in one place, while stage progress, project consumption and effective minutes are trackable.

At the forum, Whale Entertainment presented a montage of clips generated with Jingrui AI, covering film, series and animation and spanning science fiction, period drama, fantasy and contemporary subjects. The company presented the clips as evidence of the platform's delivery capability for long-form professional production.

"Technology should not decide for people which stories are worth telling or how they should be told. It should give more people the right to express themselves and amplify the value of creators who tell good stories," Du said. He said the goal is for creators to spend less energy on tools and keep more time for judgment, aesthetics and expression.

Whale Entertainment has moved on several AI fronts in recent weeks. On Sept. 17 the group launched the Whale AI Talent Program, an AI talent incubation and training project, and opened the Jingrui AI Creation Competition. It also plans a Youku Kids AI hackathon.
