Whoop launches Meridian, a jewelry-style band to keep fitness tracking during formal events
Whoop launched Meridian, a Milanese mesh fitness band with the same sensors as Whoop 5.0, available from Thursday at $149. It is designed to keep wearers tracking during occasions when standard fabric bands look out of place.
The Meridian features a Milanese metal mesh band and tapered silhouette, with premium metallic finishes. It keeps the same sensor array and tracking accuracy as the standard Whoop 5.0, Whoop says. Members can purchase it as an additional accessory instead of a full subscription device.
Whoop said in a statement, “Meridian is designed to solve one of the biggest gaps in health wearables: the fact that most people take theirs off exactly when continuous tracking matters (sleep quality outside routine, recovery on off days, stress during social events).” The tracker is available in Gold, Rose Gold, Alloy and Black, priced at $149 / £119 / AU$219.
Existing Whoop members can swap in the Meridian band seamlessly, with the companion app continuing to collect data from day to night. Whoop also sends push notifications whenever the tracker is removed, saying it is “off body.”
TechRadar notes that wearables makers have previously tried jewelry aesthetics, including the Fitbit Luxe and Apple Watch Hermes editions. The outlet's reviewer said the Meridian bands in some shades look like bracelets or watch straps, and could be “a stylish solution” for people who dislike losing data.
