WinAirCast Brings AirPlay 2 Audio Streaming to Windows PCs
WinAirCast, a new Windows app, streams PC audio to HomePod via AirPlay 2 with low latency and advanced features.
Traditionally, Windows users had to rely on third-party software like TuneBlade or AirParrot to stream audio. However, these tools often suffer from high latency, poor compatibility with newer systems such as Windows 11, and unreliable connections with AirPlay 2 devices. WinAirCast addresses these issues by implementing microsecond-level clock synchronization based on the AirPlay 2 PTP protocol, enabling synchronized playback across multiple speakers in stereo or multi-room configurations.
In terms of interface, WinAirCast displays all discovered AirPlay receivers in a single device list, showing connection status, current codec, real-time latency, and an individual volume slider for each speaker. The software also includes a floating desktop widget and an edge-docking Device Dock that lets users control playback without interrupting their current workflow.
On audio performance, WinAirCast allows per-device push stream parameters. When the local network is good, enabling the real-time streaming mode can reduce latency to approximately 45 milliseconds. In addition to standard ALAC lossless encoding, the software supports uncompressed PCM mode to preserve more audio detail. Under the hood, it leverages Windows MMCSS Pro Audio scheduling to give streaming threads the highest priority, reducing audio glitches and stuttering under heavy system load.
For personalized sound, WinAirCast includes a high-precision 10-band graphic equalizer with preamp and anti-clipping protection. Users can save presets and switch between devices. For audio capture, the software supports global capture, per-application isolation, and virtual audio devices to pass through DRM-protected content. When audio playback stops for a while, the software automatically pauses streaming and puts speakers into standby to save power and network bandwidth.
According to SSPai, WinAirCast is a one-time purchase, globally priced at $2.99, with a regional price of ¥8 in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, no subscription. Users can try the full version for free for 15 days without linking a payment method. The software supports eight languages including Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and French.
