Xbox app coming to TCL TVs as pay-as-you-go cloud gaming rolls out

Microsoft and TCL team up to bring Xbox cloud gaming to TCL TVs, just before new pay-as-you-go access and Game Pass hour caps.

The app will connect viewers to Xbox Cloud Gaming, letting them stream Game Pass titles or selected games they own as part of a subscription. Microsoft’s new pay-as-you-go model will allow anyone to use the cloud streaming service without an Xbox Game Pass subscription, aimed at people who do not own an Xbox console. Microsoft has also been testing free, ad-supported cloud gaming for Xbox Insiders, and that option could roll out soon.

At the same time, Microsoft is placing monthly limits on cloud access for Game Pass subscribers. Ultimate subscribers will be capped at 15 hours per month, Premium at 10 hours, and Essential at 5 hours. Game Pass members who need additional playtime will have to buy extra bundles of cloud hours.

TCL becomes the latest TV maker to collaborate with Microsoft on the Xbox app. Earlier this year, Hisense began adding the app to its VIDAA OS-powered televisions, and Samsung, LG, and Amazon Fire TV devices already provide access to the app.
