Xbox Birthday Perks: Double Microsoft Rewards Points During Your Birthday Week
Xbox users can earn double Microsoft Rewards points during their birthday week, but only on Microsoft Store purchases, Engadget reports.
To qualify, users need a Microsoft account and must sign up for Rewards with Xbox. Once enrolled, they will earn double Microsoft Rewards points for any game, add-on, or piece of DLC bought from the Microsoft Store during the week of their birthday. The earning window runs from the Monday to the Sunday of that week. After completing a purchase, users can check their points balance by visiting the Xbox Rewards hub, most easily accessed through the Xbox app.
The points can be redeemed for a limited set of items. For example, a $5 or £5 Xbox gift card costs 6,820 Rewards points; a Candy Crush gift card costs 1,500 points; a League of Legends gift card costs 6,500 points; an Ancient Coin Pack for Sea of Thieves costs 1,700 points; and 330 Minecraft Minecoins costs 2,500 points. Users can also donate 1,000 points, which equals $1 or £1, to charities such as UNICEF or Girls Who Code.
Engadget notes that Microsoft does not technically gift anything on your birthday, and the extra points are the closest thing. Because Rewards points cannot be spent directly on games, the publication advises against buying something from the Microsoft Store solely to earn points during the birthday week.
