Xbox Elite Controller 3 Specs Reportedly Leak From Xbox Design Lab Backend
Xbox Design Lab backend may have leaked Elite Controller 3 specs, including Hall-effect or TMR sticks and voice-coil haptics.
The user, Redditor u/esketitethan, said the information came from configuration records and 16 actual 3D component models in the Xbox Design Lab backend. According to the post, the controller is codenamed Edessa and is linked to an accessory or customization product called Beatrice. Engadget reported that the sources listed in the post appear to have since been removed.
The last Elite controller used potentiometer analog sticks that can drift. The leaked specs suggest a choice of magnetic sensing technology and stick resistance, with Hall-effect and TMR stick options. Haptics would move to advanced haptics (VCAs) motors, which could enable voice-coil haptics and trigger vibration similar to the PS5 DualSense controller instead of traditional rumble motors.
Other listed features include performance D-pads with standard, cross and grippy or faceted choices; a dedicated audio scroll wheel; faceplate options described as metal, anmed designs, extensive colors and engraving; low-friction or silent sticks; more paddle designs including standard, classic and doublewide paddles; and 27 mapped topper and paddle configurations. The leak says there are four SKU combinations, including Elite Complete and Elite Base, both with and without motors.
Reddit users responded with skepticism. Some doubted Microsoft would build its own drift-free Hall-effect joysticks, while others criticized the continuing lack of a built-in gyro. The source files were no longer visible, leaving no independent confirmation from the post itself. Earlier leaks and an accidental sale of what seemed to be a real device have suggested that the Elite Controller 3 could launch soon.
