Xbox Wireless Controller drops to £39.99 on Amazon, matching lowest price this year

Other colourways — Shock Blue, Velocity Green, Pulse Red and Deep Pink — are priced at £42.99. TechRadar reported that this is £2 more than previous record-low prices for those more adventurous colours.

TechRadar's deals editor wrote that he does most of his gaming on the PS5 but still considers the Xbox controller superior because it is more comfortable and intuitive. In TechRadar's four-star review, the controller was described as offering "a more premium feel without the price tag," and the review praised its design and feel, calling it comfortable and satisfying to use.

The publication said the £39.99 price is unlikely to be beaten until Black Friday in November. Even then, TechRadar expects any additional discount to be no more than £5, based on previous price history during major sales events, meaning shoppers who wait may gain only a slightly smaller saving.

TechRadar noted that more premium controllers from Razer and Turtle Beach may offer more features and stylish touches than the relatively plain official Xbox controller, but said the official model "simply gets the job done — and does it well" at a reasonable price, especially after the current discount.

The controller can connect via Bluetooth to most Bluetooth-enabled devices, TechRadar said. The deal matches the lowest price the publication has seen this year, and TechRadar said it has seen the controllers for only £5 less in the past, a price that has not appeared for a long time.
